On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Maxine Woody, loving daughter and sister, passed at the age of 79.

Maxine was born on July 28, 1941 in Bakersville, NC to Oakley and Evavy (Pittman) Woody. She graduated Bowman High School in 1960 and worked for 46 years in Charlotte, NC.

Maxine had a passion for cooking. She also loved her church family. She often combined the two to provide food for all occasions for her family and friends. She was an avid gospel music lover, too. She was known for her hard-working ethic, her sweet smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Maxine was preceded in death by her father, Oakley, and her mother, Evavy. She is survived by her sisters, Nancey Edwards and Joyce Woody and two nieces, June LaRosa and Melissa Hill Greenbaum and several cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in the Cane Creek Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Pastor Hugh Foy officiating. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
