Marilyn Sparks Queen, age 81, of  Unicoi, TN, formerly of Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2022 in the Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville. She was the daughter of the late Jess and Carrie Byrd Sparks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Deward Sparks.

Marilyn was a faithful member of Sullins Branch Baptist Church. She also owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Roger Queen of the home; her daughter, Melanie Garland and husband Mike of Unicoi; her son, Tim Queen and wife Lisa of Clemmons, NC; her sister, Theresa Murdock and husband Phillip of Newland; and her two grandchildren, Emma and Tanner.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in the Bailey Cemetery on John Sparks Rd, Bakersville with Dr. Phillip Murdock and Pastor Ken Jenkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Mitchell County Animal Rescue.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Care Partners Solace Center for their love and care during Marilyn's illness.
