Madge Pauline Burleson Greiner of Bakersville , NC , died Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Memorial Mission Hospital , Asheville , NC .

Born on May 5, 1923 in Bakersville , NC , she was the daughter of the late George Dewey Burleson(Dewey) and Grace Earley Burleson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George William Greiner, Jr., two brothers Samuel Kyle Burleson and Sherrill Weaver Burleson, and one nephew Ronald Weaver Burleson.

Madge attended the First Baptist Church of Oakland Park, FL for many years.  Her church service in previous years included being a Sunday School teacher, working with Child Evangelism, being the church librarian, and the church pianist.

Madge was a retired school teacher/administrator who began her teaching career at the Glen Ayre School , Bakersville , NC .  After moving to Fort Lauderdale , FL , in 1945, she continued her teaching at Trinity Lutheran School and then started a private kindergarten at Ft. Lauderdale Bible Church and years later another kindergarten at Lauderdale Manors Baptist Church , which evolved into a K-6 private school.  She also taught and  was an administrator at Gold Coast Christian School and an administrator at Covenant Presbyterian Church School. She received the Golden Apple Award for 50+ years of teaching.

Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters: Robin Greiner Held, husband Peter of Dayton, TN and Holli Greiner of Bakersville, NC; her two granddaughters:  Rachel Held Evans and husband Dan of Dayton, TN and Amanda Held Opelt and husband Tim of Boone, NC;  five nieces: Victoria Burleson, Carole Ratcliffe, Joan Ellis, Jill Forbes, and Tina Davenport;  grandnephew Paul A. Burleson, grandniece Tammy D'ambrosio; and her friend, Rhonda Gouge.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Madge Pauline Burleson Greiner on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 6pm at the Henline-Hughes Funeral Home Chapel.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 , at 11 am at the Burleson Cemetery , located on Gouge Cove Road , Bakersville , NC .
