Lonnie Wallene Vance Gouge, age 95, of Bakersville, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at her home with her family. A native of Seco, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Kell and Margaret Smith Vance and the wife of the late Brown Gouge. Lonnie was a health care provider at Reisterstown Hospital for Children in Baltimore , MD. She was a homemaker, wonderful wife and mother and also a caregiver to many of her family. Her hobbies were reading and gardening. She loved to sing and was always smiling. In her early years she attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ on Fork Mtn. Road . Lonnie was a Godly woman who's heart's desire was for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all the rest of her family to all be in heaven with her someday! In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lucas and brothers: Carroll, Dennis and Gordon Vance.

Survivors include her daughters: Margaret Troutman and husband Brad of Mechanicsville, VA, Ethel Crawford and husband Ralph and Mary Hall and husband Tommy all of Bakersville; sons: Roger Gouge and wife Judy, James Gouge and wife Calla, and Gene Gouge and wife Diane all of Bakersville; grandchildren: Debbie, Rhonda, Lisa, Tammy, Tommy Jr, Rodney, Tracie, Melissa, Amanda, Scarlett and James Jr; great grandchildren: DJ, Anthony, Joey, Tyler, Carrie, Samantha, Ryan, Austin, Aaron, Isaac, Lexie, Emma, Cole, and Macie; and one great great grandchild, Alyssa.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Sunday, April 9, 2017 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at her home. Burial will be 1:00 pm Monday, April 10, 2017 in the Gouge Cemetery on Gouge Cove Road .
