Dateline: Spruce Pine, NC

Lloyd Thomas McKinney, age 76, of Deer Park Rd, Spruce Pine, NC, went home to be with the Lord, November 4, 2019. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Herbert (Hub) and Biddie Buchanan McKinney. He was retired as a truck driver and mechanic.

He attended McKinney Cove Baptist Church, Roan Mountain Baptist Church, and Cane Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Lloyd loved his family, enjoyed driving trucks, watching NASCAR races, and hearing bluegrass and southern gospel music.

Survivors include: two sons; Richie McKinney, (Stephanie), of Bakersville, NC, and Russell McKinney, (Tonya), of Spruce Pine, NC, one sister; Betty Jean Bennett, of Bakersville, NC, one brother; Buddy McKinney, of Bakersville, NC, and three grandchildren; Ryan McKinney, Royce McKinney, and Austin Franklin.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: two sisters; Ruth Greene, and Ebbie Wyatt, and two brothers; Erb and Wilkie McKinney.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 7:00PM in Roan Mountain Baptist Church with Russell McKinney and Tony McKinney officiating, The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11:00AM at Green - Young Cemetery.
