Lester Carpenter age 83 of Spruce Pine the Green Valley community passed away Monday October 5, 2026 at the Greens of Spruce Pine.  Born in Avery County, NC he was a son of the late Carl and Maude Shook Carpenter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Jack (Fox), Lloyd, Leroy and Bobby Carpenter and sisters, Dixie Burleson, Mary Hise and Lois Styles.

Lester is survived by a sister Margaret Carpenter of Thomasville, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in the Harris Memorial Cemetery.

Lester’s family would like to thank Hospice of the Blue Ridge and High Country Caregivers for the great care they provided.

Henline-Hughes Funeral Service have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Carpenter.
