Leroy “Buster” Junior Henson, born September 16, 1939, in Burke County, passed away peacefully at his home on August 12, 2026.

Buster was the son of the late Levi Henson and Gladys Louise Carpenter Henson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Henson; two sisters, Margaret Henson Arney and Mary Henson; a dear nephew, Randy Hall; and Jennifer LeMieux, a treasured friend who held a special place in the lives of Buster and Marcell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcell Hall Henson, whom he married in 1979. Together, Buster and Marcell shared 47 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, companionship, and many cherished memories. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Henson, and his sister, Grace McCall.

Also dear to Buster were Will LeMieux and Jessica LeMieux Weil, children of Fred and the late Jennifer LeMieux. A special bond was shared as Will and Jessica felt as if they were his own grandchildren. Buster also leaves behind his buddy, Ayden Glenn. Buster and Ayden shared a special bond and loved spending time together watching cartoons, creating memories that will always be treasured.

Buster attended Yellow Mountain Baptist Church, where he faithfully attended and served the Lord. Above all, Buster wanted to be remembered as a loving husband, for attending church regularly, and for faithfully serving the Lord. His faith was an important part of his life, and he treasured his church and the fellowship he shared there.

Buster retired from Henredon Furniture after many years of service. In his younger years, he enjoyed squirrel hunting and spending time outdoors. As the years went on, he also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life and the time he was able to spend with the people who meant the most to him.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff of Hospice of the Blue Ridge, who worked tirelessly to serve Buster and provide him with compassionate care and comfort during his final days. The family would also like to give special recognition to Marvin Hall, who was an exceptional caretaker to Buster in his final days. His kindness, dedication, and willingness to be there when Buster needed him most will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Beech Mountain Cemetery, where Buster will be laid to rest. Dustin Dellinger will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Blue Ridge in Buster’s memory.

Henline-Hughes Funeral Service of Bakersville have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Henson.
