Dateline: Bakersville, NC

Lena Garland Greene, age 90 of Green Creek Rd, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord January 16, 2020. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Mack and Grace McKinney Garland. She was a member of Fork Mountain Baptist Church and was the office manager for Greene Lumber Company. She loved working in her garden and taking care of cows. She loved her family and her friends.

Survivors include: one daughter; Shirley Greene Edwards, of Spruce Pine, NC, two grandchildren; Tammy Edwards VanValkenburg, and Douglas Scott Edwards, three great grandchildren; Madison, Autumn, and Alana VanValkenburg.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband; Ivan Greene, and her sister; Maxie Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 3:00PM in Fork Mountain Baptist Church with John McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
