Laura Miller Haines, age 78, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in the Mission Hospital , Asheville , NC . A native of Bakersville, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Bertie Gouge Miller and the wife of the late Howard Haines. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Ray and Glenn Miller; Ruth Morris, Arlene Russell, Hedy Perkins, Susie Woody and Maude Combs. Laura was a retired nurse with the Spruce Pine Community Hospital in Spruce Pine. She attended Bear Creek Baptist Church when she was able.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Patricia Burleson and husband Walter; sons: Perry Jones and wife Shirlene and David Morris; step children: Lynn Hartford, Sammy Haines, Paula Haines and Tina Haines; brother, James Blair Miller; grandchildren: Sierra Bennett and husband Matthew, Matthew Edwards, Chaely Medley and husband Jeff, Josh Jones, Jennifer Hobson and husband Joe and Tiffany Zitlin and husband Nick; and three great grandsons.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in the Bear Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Cannon and Rev. Chris Rathbone officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
