Laura Hobson Cooke, age 88 of Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord October 22, 2015 . She was a daughter of the late Alfonzo and Nettie Ledford Hobson. She was a homemaker and a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church . She was a resident of Mitchell House Assisted Living for two years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Tulsa Lee Cooke, brothers; Frank Hobson, and Wylie Hobson, sisters; May Hobson, Nellie Hobson, Dora Green, Pearle Hoilman, Belle Buchanan, Blanche Cain, and Bernice Cooke, and a grandson, Zachary Hernandez.

Survivors include; daughters; Patricia Hoyle, and husband JR, of Bakersville, NC, Pamela Hernandez, and husband George, of Lexington, KY, one son; Michael R. Cooke, and wife Kristie, of Fredericksburg, VA, one sister; Marie McKinney, of Bakersville, NC, and one brother; Howard Hobson, also of Bakersville, NC, grandchildren; Shawn Travis Hoyle, of Sumter, SC, Ethan Cooke, of Fredericksburg, VA, George C. and Ashleigh Hernandez, of Lexington, KY, Patrick and Elizabeth Hernandez, of St. Albans, WV, great grandchildren; Samantha, Dillon, and Dustin Hoyle, Christopher, Colby, and Caleb, Pierce, and Audra Hernandez.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Matthew Grindstaff and Stokes Cooke officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Fork Mountain Cemetery .
