Larry James Buchanan, age 67, of Bakersville, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 23, 2024 at home. He was the son of the late Otis and Dorothy Stamey Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wilkie Buchanan, sister, Joann Staton, and his wife Karen. Survivors include his son Dylan, and sister Mary Ellen, and several nieces and nephews.

Larry graduated from high school in 1975 and had a business associates degree from Mayland Community College. He worked his entire career in banking in Spruce Pine, NC which he thoroughly enjoyed. Larry was a life long Green Bay Packers fan and never missed a game. He also enjoyed reading Stephen King novels.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 29, 2024 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Russell McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cane Creek Cemetery.
