Kenneth Darrell Edwards, age 72 of Big Oak Rd , Bakersville , NC passed away June 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. A native of Mitchell County, NC he was a son of the late Monroe and Lila Gilley Edwards. He was a member of New Day House of Prayer and retired from WL Adams Construction in Virginia .

Survivors include: daughters; Dawn Sheets (Marvin), of Sugar Grove , Virginia , Robin Evans (Michael), of Sugar Grove , Virginia , four grandchildren;  Justin Edwards, Jonathan Edwards and fiancé Brandi Russell, of Sugar Grove , Virginia , Brandy Lynn Miller, of NC, Shakia Nicole Edwards, of NC, seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: two brothers; Robert and Brown Edwards, five sisters; and one grandson; Harley Junior Davis.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 8:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Mike Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Monday, July 3, 2017 at 1:00PM at Edwards Cemetery ( Cox Creek Rd Yancey County , NC ).
