Kathy Sarah Byrd, age 75, of Kingsport, TN passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at her home. A native of Mitchell County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Pauline Wilson Byrd. In additional to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Keith Byrd.

After high school, Kathy enrolled in East Tennessee State University where she received her BS Degree in Education. She taught school in Mitchell County and later moved to Kingsport where she continued to teach for many years. She enjoyed reading, taking pictures of friends and family, and enjoyed watching old movies and old TV shows. She also had a great appreciation for the military and always supported our disabled veterans. Kathy was a Christian and enjoyed attending church.

Survivors include her sister, Karen Bradshaw and husband John; sister in law, Cheryl Byrd, nieces, Stephanie Byrd Smith (David Smith), Deborah Byrd, Dawn Bradshaw Emmrich (Tom Emmrich), and Deidre Bradshaw Foster (John Foster); her nephews, Dr. Christopher Byrd and Dr. Danny Bradshaw (Vanessa); and her great nieces and nephews, Tyler Walker, Sydney Bradshaw, Evangeline and Jack Foster; special cousin, Truett Wilson and special friends and colleague, Dr. and Mrs. Gary and Yvette Martin.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 22, 2024 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery.
