June Woody Whitson, age 93 of Young Cove Rd Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2017 . She was a native of Yancey County , NC and a daughter of the late John and Julia Randolph Woody. She was a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church .

Survivors include: two sons; Gerald Whitson (Libby), of Bakersville, NC, and Keith Whitson (Sally), of Boone, NC, three grandchildren; Melissa Colbath, Molly Shelton, and Daniel Whitson, seven great grandchildren; Julia, Elisha, Zeke, Jonas, and Josiah Shelton, and Noah, and Tessa Whitson.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband: Glenn Whitson, one daughter; Glenda Mae Whitson, a sister; Reba Wilson, and a brother; Dr. Jay Woody.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Chris Shelton and Mark McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Green - Young Cemetery .
