Joyce Bennett McKinney age 90, of McKinney Lane, Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 7, 2016. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Baxter and Lizzie Burleson Bennett.

She was a member and attended New Day House of Prayer. She was retired from the Mitchell County Agricultural Extension Service, and her hobbies included gardening, sewing, being a homemaker, and camping, but her lifetime passion was her family and her church.

Survivors include: daughters; Margaret M. Johnson and husband Rex, of Marion, NC, Elizabeth M. Ledford and husband Danny of, Valdese, NC, and one grandson; Christopher McKinney and wife Andrea of, Spruce Pine, NC, a step grandson; Coty Ledford and wife Whitney, of Spruce Pine, NC, two step great grandsons; Seth Hughes of Spruce Pine, NC, and Justin Hughes, also of Spruce Pine, NC, a step great granddaughter; Harper Grace Ledford, of Spruce Pine, NC, brothers; George Bennett, of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Johnnie Bennett of, Burnsville, NC.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband; Vestal McKinney, a daughter; Michelle Renee McKinney.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Mike Peterson and Doug Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Garland McKinney Cemetery (Garland McKinney Cemetery Rd.)
