Joyce Ann Ledford Johnson of Bakersville, NC, the Hawk Community, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Gladys Benfield Ledford . In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Johnson and a brother, J.E. Ledford.

Joyce was an avid reader and enjoyed bird watching knowing each bird by their sound. But most of all she loved her family and cared for all of them.

Joyce is survived by her siblings: Lula Belle Slagle, Kathy Hoss, Judy Miller, Gail Robinson (Gerald), Tessie Harrell (Gary), and Wayne Ledford; and numerous Nieces and Nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to Penny Howell, Joyce's caregiver, and to Terra McKinney and all the staff  of Compassionate Care WNC for their loving care they gave to Joyce during her illness.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 22, 2023 in the Cane Creek Cemetery.
