Joyce Marie Stafford Hruska, 89, of Bakersville, NC, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 31, 2026. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of John and Margaret Copeland Stafford. Joyce treasured her family deeply, finding great joy in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and had a fondness for playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John C. Stafford, and her beloved daughter Michele Brown.

Her memory lives on through her children: Debbie Vaughan (Woody) of Hayes, Virginia; Tona Plue (Wally) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Randy Wilkins (Cathy) of Chesapeake, Virginia; Heather Bonaminio (Jim) of Bakersville, NC; and James Hruska Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren Anibal Gonzales, Brandon Gonzales, Nicole Waller, Jordan Gonzales, Justin New, Katie Brewer, Ian Hruska, and Elizabeth Bonaminio, along with step-grandchildren Fred Reid, Karen Nootnagel, and PJ Plue. Her legacy extends to seven great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Greens of Spruce Pine and Hospice and Palliative Care of The Blue Ridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of The Blue Ridge at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

A celebration of life will be held August 30, 2026 in Chesapeake, Virginia.
