Josie Street Potter, age 87, of Will Street Rd, Bakersville , NC went home to be with the Lord, December 28, 2016 . A native of Mitchell County, NC she was a daughter of the late Joe M. and Pearl Harrell Street .

She was a member of Buladean Presbyterian Church where she was a former Elder. She retired from Mitchell County Schools where she was a Teacher for 37 years. She was a member of North Carolina Education Association, and a volunteer for 4H organization. She was also a former member of Roan Mountain Chapter #29 Order Of The Eastern Star.

Survivors include: three children; Lissa Jo McMahan (Garry), of Burnsville , NC ,  Phillip Elliott, (Lori), and Robbie Potter, all of Bakersville , NC , grandchildren; Lauren Elliott Hernandez, Morgan Elliott Hall, Dorothy Virginia Speaks, Lindsey Potter, Devon Potter, Xan Potter, Ben Potter, and Barrett Potter, two great grandchildren; Elliott Thomas Hall, and Hazel Hernandez.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: a sister; Joyce Street Masters, and a brother; Luther C. Street .

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Wanda Woodby and Bobby Justice officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Street Cemetery ( Pine Root Branch Rd. ).
