Joseph Edward Yelton, 48, of Spruce Pine passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late James Edward Yelton and Betty G McKinney of Spruce Pine. He was a millwright and roofer, and a member of McKinney Cove Baptist Church .

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Felicia Yelton of Spruce Pine; two step children: Samatha Rathbone of Spruce Pine and Gavin Rathbone of Asheville ; sister, Fran Buchanan of Spruce Pine; brother, Johnny Yelton of Hickory ; step sister, Veronica Kern of Taylorsville ; granddaughter, Autumn Jones; special girlfriend and caregiver, Susanne Redden.

Funeral Services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 12, 2015 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Todd Ayers officiating. Burial will follow in the Green - Young Cemetery . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
