John Charles Maize, age 85 of Weaverville , NC passed away on February 8, 2016 in Carlsbad , Ca. A native of St. Joseph , MO , he was the son of the late John Riley and Grace Ramseier Maize.

John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly Young Maize; son, Peter Maize and wife Wendy of Hong Kong; daughter, Elizabeth LaRue and husband Steve of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren: Christopher Maize, Melissa Maize, Emily Cilley, Peter LaRue and Bennett LaRue; brother, Richard A. Maize, MD and wife Judy of Los Osos, CA; special nephews: Pat W. Martin and wife Alice of Redlands, CA and Jody D. Martin of Carlsbad, CA.

A funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville , NC . Burial will follow in the Green Young Cemetery , Green Young Cemetery Road , Bakersville , NC .
