John F. Goodwin, age 94 passed away Saturday June 11, 2016 at home.

John was born in Trenton , New Jersey where he resided for 67 years before moving to North Carolina . John was a veteran of WWII, woodworker and farmer. His passion was creating beautiful furniture and cabinets.  He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and Fork Mountain Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Maude Goodwin, his first wife Louise Marion Ferguson Goodwin, second wife Patricia Nuse Goodwin, brother Beyer Goodwin and sister Annabell Pieslak Galinat, and beloved daughter Phyllis Goodwin Buchanan.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Jack K. Goodwin of Fork Mountain, son-in-law Donald Buchanan of Bakersville , granddaughters Anna Marie Goodwin, and Michelle and Tom Harkness of NJ, grandson Michael Burkhart and Theresa of MD, and great-grandson Michael A. Burkhart II.

Funeral services will be 8:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Lander Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, June 17, 2016 in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, New Jersey .
