John Mark Cole, age 65, of Bakersville, NC, the Fork Mountain Community, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his home. He was the son of the late Milt and Nellie Phillips Cole. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Katie Greene Cole,  his brother, David Cole, and granddaughter Maggie Rea Young.

John worked for Mitchell EMS for twenty plus years. He also loved working on his farm, taking care of his animals, and gardening and he enjoyed leatherwork. He and Katie loved to go to the flee markets where they made a lot of friends. And one of his greatest passions was the love John had for his grandbabies.

John is survived by his children: Shaina Cole Burleson (Coty), Amy Young (Brannon) and Adam Woody (Becky); brothers, Joe Cole (Ann) and Robert Cole (Janie) and his grandchildren: Evan Briggs, Ayden Woody, Mayce Woody, Hunter Burleson, and Harper Burleson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery on Roy Greene Road, Bakersville with John's former EMS colleagues/friends serving as pallbearers.
