Dateline: Spruce Pine, NC

Joann Hobson Young, age 68 of Ridgecrest Lane, Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord December 3, 2022. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Howard and Doris Greene Hobson. She was retired from Baxter Healthcare Company.

Joann was a member of Fork Mountain Baptist Church. She was a loving mother who loved everyone and never met a stranger. If you left her house hungry it was your fault because she always offered a meal. She loved singing.

Survivors include two daughters; Amanda Carpenter, of Spruce Pine, NC, and Donna Wardle, of Nebo, NC, one sister, Sharon Fox (Kenneth), of Bakersville, NC, four grandchildren; Cody Wardle, Lexi, Zoey, and Jada Wortman, and two great grandchildren; Jasper and Maddox Coffey.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 2:00PM in Fork Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
