Dateline: Spruce Pine, NC

JoAnn Bailey Harmon age 91, of Katie Lane Spruce Pine, NC went home to be with the Lord November 27, 2023. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Clyde and Florence Buchanan Bailey. She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church.

JoAnn was retired from Mitchell County Schools where she worked in food service. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, puzzle books, gardening, cooking, and especially collecting all things Mickey Mouse.

Survivors include one daughter Donna Mangum (Eric), of Spruce Pine, NC, one son Joey Harmon (Pat), of Spruce Pine, NC, grandchildren: Josh McKinney (Leslie), Sara Wright (Adam), step grandchildren: Ethan McKinney and Candice Woody, great grandchildren: Olivia and Logan McKinney, Josie and Clint Wright, Tatem and Ryker McKinney, Shelby and Jack Woody, Alyssa Barnett, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Joe Harmon,  brothers: Howard, George, Claude, Arthur, Fred, and Clyde "Sugg", and her sisters: Mildred, Virginia, and Jean "Sis".

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Cannon officiating. Private burial will be at Bailey Cemetery.
