Jay Walter Tipton, 87 of the Snow Creek Community, Bakersville , NC passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 in the Mountain Manor Assisted Living in Burnsville , NC . He was the son of the late Walter and Pansy Boone Tipton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold, Harry and Donny Tipton and a sister, Betty Jo Smith. Jay was a veteran of the US Army.

Jay is survived by two sisters: Bertha Huskins of Bakersville and Bernice Dixon of Kingsport , TN.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in the Lily Branch Baptist Church with Vern Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lily Branch Baptist Church .
