Dateline: Green Mountain, NC

Janie Peterson Jones age 87 of Toe River Road, Green Mountain, NC went home to be with the Lord November 17, 2022. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Clayton and Lassie Barnett Peterson. She was a homemaker and a member of Brummitts Creek Fundamental Church of The Brethren. She enjoyed her garden, her flowers, puzzle books, and especially dinners where she spent  time with her family.

Survivors include; two children; Brenda Peterson (Terry), and Eddie Jones (Regina), all of Burnsville, NC, three sisters; Nora McCurry, of Green Mountain, NC, Anner Osborne, of Erwin, TN, and Donnie Robinson, of Burnsville, NC, three grandchildren; Justin Peterson, Olivia and Makayla Jones, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Conley Jones, four sisters; Carmer, Julie, and Maxie Peterson, and Elva Bennett, and four brothers; Mack, Walt, JE, and Alvin Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 20, 2022 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Ronald Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Tipton Griffith Cemetery.
