Jamie Howell Pitman age 84 of Bakersville passed away Wednesday October 28, 2026 at the Greens of Spruce Pine. Born in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late James Augustus and Parolea Young Howell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Pitman, a grandson Logan Michael Pitman, a sister Shirley Willis and a brother James Howell.

Jamie was a member of the Mine Creek Baptist Church and along side her husband they owned and operated Bakersville Quick Mart for many years in Bakersville.

Left to cherish her memories is her son, Michael Wayne Pitman (Cris) of Bakersville, daughter, Lisa Pitman Austin of Bakersville, grandchildren Cari Leigh Foster (Elisha), Michael McKinley Austin (Allie), Morgan William Austin and John Wayne Pitman, a great grandson, Lochlan Michael Foster, and a special niece Carol McKinney.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pitman will be conducted Friday, October 30, 2026 at 2:00PM at the Mine Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark McKinney and Reverend Chris Rathbone officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery on Bakersville Memorial Cemetery Road.
