James Monroe Thompson age 80 of Willis Street , Spruce Pine , NC went home to be with the Lord July 31, 2015 at his home. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Ken and Myrtle Lambert Thompson. He was retired as a rock mason. He was a member of Sullins Branch Baptist Church , and also a full time member of NRA and North American Hunters.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Woody and husband Tex , of Spruce Pine, NC.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Ruth B. Thompson, and seven brothers; Will, Ken Jr., Bruce, Tony, Kyle, Jack, and Ross.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 7:00PM in Sullins Branch Baptist Church with Ken Jenkins, T. J. Miller, and Rocky Branch officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Monday, August 3, 2015 at 11:00AM at Beans Creek Cemetery .
