James "Jim" Bray, age 91 of Odoms Chapel Rd, Bakersville, NC passed away September 25, 2015 at his home. He was a native of Minooka, Illinois and the son of the late Cliff and Murtie VanCleave Bray. Jim was retired as a supervisor at Joseph E. Seagrams Company.  He was a Veteran of The United States Navy where he served in World War II. He was of the Catholic Faith and enjoyed outdoor activities.

His hobbies included: golfing, gardening, and sports of all kinds. Jim enjoyed each day to the fullest and enjoyed life. He had a special place in his heart for kids and helped them in any way he could.

Surviving is his loving wife of 42 years, Lillie Mae Gardner Bray, of the home, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in addition to his parents by three sisters, Jessie Atterbery, Mary Ellen McQuaid, and Fannie Greening.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 1:00PM at Beans Creek Cemetery, with William Ellis officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by Sgt. E. L. Randolph Chapter 57 DAV Burnsville, NC. Interment will follow at Beans Creek Cemetery.
