DATELINE; BAKERSVILLE, NC

Jacob J. Orr Jr. age 76 of Crimson laurel Way, Bakersville, NC went home to be with The Lord May 1, 2015 at his home. He was born in Andrews, NC to the late Jacob J. Orr Sr. and Ethel Stratton Orr. He graduated from Robbinsville High School and  Fruitland Bible College. He was in charge of the recreation dept at Fontana Resort.

He was a Baptist Minister and was pastor at many churches including: Sweetwater Baptist Church in Robbinsville, NC, Ledger Baptist Church, McKinney Cove Baptist Church, Silver Chapel Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church, all in Bakersville, NC and was Interim Pastor at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine, NC. He also worked at Henline - Hughes Funeral Home for 7 years. He was a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife Vivian Rolen Orr, of the home, one son; Joey Orr (Karen), of Griffin, Georgia, two daughters; Ginger Millsaps (Chris), of Orlando, Florida, and Betsy Campbell (Chris), of Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, one sister; Willa Mae Carringer, of Robbinsville, NC, two brothers; Burl Orr, of Robbinsville, NC, and Lamar Orr, of Knoxville, TN, five grandchildren; Lance Millsaps, Kell Farley, Kyle Farley, Jacob Orr, and Megan Millsaps, five great grandchildren; Addie Millsaps, Clay Millsaps, Cayma Farley, Christopher Farley, and Jarrett Farley.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Martin, and one brother, Hubert Orr.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 5:00PM in Roan Mountain Baptist Church with Daniel Stewart, Nathan Silvers, Tim Fowler, and Lance Millsaps officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service Interment will be Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00AM at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery.
