Irene Edwards Greene, age 89, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 in the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital . A native of Madison County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Clara Caldwell Edwards and the wife of the late Clarence Greene who passed away in 2014 after 64 years of marriage. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Cane Creek Free Will Baptist Church. She really loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Ramsey and husband Robert of Bakersville; son, Claude "Buddy" Greene and wife Ann of Chesnee, SC; sisters: Ioma Ruth Worley of Swannanoa, NC and Gaynelle Taylor of Candler, NC; sister in law, Myrl Hall of Bakersville; grandchildren: Laura Crowder, Leslie Davis and Adam Greene; also 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie Mack Edwards and Claude Edwards Jr. and sister Bonnie Chandler.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Lee Cope officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cane Creek Cemetery .
