Howard William Hobson, age 85 of Gouge Cove Rd , Bakersville , NC passed away February 17, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Fonzer and Nettie Ledford Hobson. He was retired as a Foreman for Champion Construction in Florida , and was a Veteran of The United States Air Force where he served in the Philippines . He was a member of Fork Mountain Baptist Church .

Survivors include: his wife Doris Greene Hobson, of the home, two daughters; Joann Hobson Young and Sharon Hobson Fox and husband Ken, all of Spruce Pine, NC, one sister; Marie McKinney, of Bakersville, NC, three grandchildren; Chad Fox, Donna Wardle, and Amanda Carpenter, four great grandchildren; Cody Wardle, Lexie Wortman, Jada Wortman and, Zoey Wortman.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: eight sisters; Dora Greene, Pearl Hoilman, Blanche Cain, Belle Buchanan, Bernice Cooke, Laura Cooke, Nellie Hobson, and Mae Hobson, two brothers; Wiley Hobson, and Frank Hobson, and one great grandson; Caleb Fox.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00PM in Fork Mountain Baptist Church with Tommy Thomas and Danny Silvers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
