Howard Irah Buchanan, 95, of Morristown, TN passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at his residence.

Mr. Buchanan was born October 23, 1930 in Clarissa, NC to the late Green A. and Lizzie Buchanan.

He served in the United States Army from August 21, 1952 to August 9, 1954. He retired from Ford Motor Company, in Detroit, MI after 31 years of service.

Survivors include his sister, Dorotha Whitson of Marion, NC, his brother Albert Buchanan and wife Betty of Shelby, NC, and his brother Donald and wife Violet of Spruce Pine, NC, his grandson Paul Buchanan of Spruce Pine, NC, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Madie Hardiman Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by his brother Arthur Buchanan and his sister Linda Trivette of Spruce Pine, NC.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 1:00PM at Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Brandon Pitman officiating. Interment will follow the service.
