Herman Cornett Jr. , age 62 of Valdese, NC went home to be with the Lord June 18, 2018. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Herman Cornett Sr.

He was employed with Farm Bureau Insurance Company and a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Harris High School in 1973 and attended Mars Hill College . Herman was a member of Vesper Masonic Lodge #554 in Spruce Pine, NC. Herman was also a 6th degree karate black belt.

Survivors include: his mother; Jennie Burleson Cornett, of Spruce Pine, NC, wife; Beth McCurry Cornett, of the home, two sons; Peyton Herman Cornett and Gabriel Stokes Cornett, both of the home, two sisters; Barbara Murdock (Homer), of Charlotte, NC, and Gay Geouge (David), of Bakersville, NC, one brother; Alfred Cornett (June), of Hendersonville, NC, two daughters; Summer Calloway (Kelly), and Jordan Howard, one grandchild; Cora, and one step grandchild; Kallie.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 at 2:00PM in Spring Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bob McCurry and Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. Interment will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Park 3033 South Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
