Dateline: Green Mountain, NC

Helen Sturgill, age 92, of Pigeon Roost Rd., Green Mountain, NC went home to be with the Lord August 13, 2021. She was a daughter of the late Woodard and Martha Willis Barnett. Helen loved her family and her church family at Lower Pigeon Roost Freewill Baptist Church. She also enjoyed her flowers, sewing, and her dog (Max). She was retired from Ellen Knitting Mill in Spruce Pine, NC.

Survivors include: one daughter; Billie Jean Whitson (Steve), four sons; Larry Keith Sturgill (Sandra), Terry Sturgill, Stanley Sturgill, and Gerald Sturgill (Teresa), all of Green Mountain, NC, two grandchildren: Dustin Sturgill (Elizabeth), and Caitlin Duvall (Tyler), five great grandchildren: Rilee, Elijah, Sadie, Greyson, and Skyler.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by: her husband Clarence Sturgill, sisters; Marie Barnett, Pearl Bennett, Idella Miller, Lola Barnett, and brothers; Floyd, Carl and Clifford Barnett.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 1:00PM in the chapel of Henline Hughes Funeral Home, with Ronald Thomas and Dustin Sturgill officiating. The family requests that those in attendance please bring and wear a mask. Interment will follow the service at Bennett Cemetery (Pigeon Roost Rd).
