Helen Slagle Hobson, age 87 of N 226 Hwy, Bakersville , NC went home to be with the Lord, August 21, 2016 . She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Jake and Bessie Garland Slagle.

She was retired as owner operator of Helen's Restaurant in Bakersville NC . She was a lifelong member of Red Hill Baptist Church . Helen was a large supporter of St. Jude Children's Hospital. She loved people, enjoyed life, her family, and her church family.

Survivors include: her daughters; Sondra Hobson Greene (Russell), and Sherry Hopson Sparks (Randy), all of Bakersville, NC, one grandson; Adam Hopson (Christy), also of Bakersville, NC, two great grandchildren; Peyton and Addison Hopson, one brother; Lee Slagle of, Leicester, NC, and a special nephew Darrell Slagle.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; Wiley Hobson, two sisters; Trula Burroughs, and Virginia Tipton, five brothers; Harry, Earl, Ted, Bill, and Jack Slagle, and a granddaughter; Brooke Greene.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 4:00PM in Red Hill Baptist Church with Randy Wise officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
