Grover Wade Edwards Sr., 88, of Spruce Pine, NC passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 in the Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. A native of the Glen Ayre Community in Bakersville, he was the son of the late Floyd and Mae Childers Edwards. He loved working his farm and his animals on "the old home place" in Glen Ayre. Wade was also a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Salem Virginia. He was also a US Army veteran. In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Buchanan Edwards of the home; sons, Jeff Edwards and wife Ella of Spruce Pine and Wade Edwards and wife Kathy of Salem, VA; sister, Sue Hall and brothers, Billy Edwards and Johnny Edwards; five grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Bear Creek Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bear Creek Building Fund: 327 Bear Creek Church Rd, Bakersville, NC 28705.
