Dateline: Bakersville, NC

Gerald Clarence Whitson, age 74, of Green Young Cemetery Rd., Bakersville, NC passed away October 2, 2020. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Frank and June Woody Whitson. Gerald was a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church. He was self employed as a  farmer and was a member of the NRA and Cattlemen's association.

Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth Whitson, of Bakersville, NC, one daughter, Melissa Whitson Colbath, of Black Mountain, NC, and one brother, Keith Alan Whitson (Sallie), of Boone, NC.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by one sister, Glenda Mae Whitson.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 1:00PM at Green Young Cemetery with Todd Ayers officiating.
