Gary Wayne Gortney, age 66 of Bristol, TN formerly of Bakersville, NC passed away January 31, 2024. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Albert and Mary Lois Whitson Gortney. He was previously employed as a Construction Worker.

Gary enjoyed owning and driving fast cars and also enjoyed time outdoors.

Survivors include: two daughters; Holly Morton (Gary), of Bakersville, NC, and Keshia Gortney, of Jonesborough, TN, one brother Larry Gortney, of Bakersville, NC and one sister Shelia Floyd, of Johnson City, TN, eight grandchildren; Dalton and Cierria Whitson, Zoey Hughes, Laken and Lyric Morton, Dakota Gortney, Alexis Hughes, and Hailey Barry, and four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Gortney, one son David Gortney, and one grandson Micah Morton.

Private services will be held at a later date.
