DATELINE; BAKERSVILLE , NC

Florence McNeill Greene, age 98 of Cane Creek Rd., Bakersville, NC went home to be with the Lord May 15, 2015 . She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late George D. McNeill and Laura Katherine Buchanan McNeill.

She was a member of Roan Mountain Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting and spending time at The Mitchell County Senior Center. She volunteered with The Vista Literacy Program and previously worked at Spruce Pine   Mica Company where she inspected the mica used in the Apollo Space Mission.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Thomas Edward Greene Sr. a son Roger Greene, four sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include; a son Tom Greene (Sue), of Bakersville, NC, a daughter Evelyn McCallister (Thad), of Arden, NC, one daughter in law Janet Greene, of Kings Mountain, NC, three grandchildren; Jimmy Greene (Martha), of Montclair, VA, Michael Greene ( Cari), of Bakersville, NC, and Mark Greene ( Revonda), of Bakersville, NC, three great grandchildren; Allison Greene, of Kings Mountain, NC, Seth Greene (Natalie), of Bakersville, NC, and Brandi Robinson (Shawn), of Bakersville, NC, a special niece Mary Patrick, and a special friend Pansy Upton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends at The Mitchell County Senior Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Tim Fowler, Mark McKinney, and Daniel Whetstine officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Green - Young Cemetery . In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Of The Blue Ridge 236 Hospital Drive Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
