Evelyn Wilson Young, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Wilkesboro, NC, on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, following a brief illness. Mrs. Young was born on August 6, 1921, in Bakersville, NC, to Arthur B. and Sarah Garland Wilson. After graduating from Bowman High School, she worked at Northwestern Bank in Spruce Pine, NC, until moving with her family to Wilkesboro, NC in 1950. She was a member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church for more than 65 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband W.G. "Bill" Young. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Young Nesbitt and husband Lynn of Hilton Head Island, SC, and one granddaughter, Brooke Nesbitt Clark and husband Joe of Greenville, SC. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 in the Church Atrium prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the Green B.
