Eula Jean Peterson Shrewsbury, age 78, died at home in Mechanicsville , VA on Monday, January 16, 2017 . A native of Mitchell County , she was the daughter of the late Josh and Eva McCourry Peterson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Shrewsbury; her brothers: Buck, Charles, June, Billy, and Clark Peterson; and sister, Emma Lou Laberyie.

She is survived by her sisters: Marjorie Webb of Unicoi, TN, Beulah Joyner and husband Don of Rocky Mt, NC, Jerlyne Baxley and husband Joe of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Carol Street and husband JR of Gray, TN and Irene Peterson and husband Garnie of Green Mtn, NC; her brother, Rev. Mike Peterson and wife Ginger of Bakersville, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
