Ephlee Peterson, age 89, of Hwy 197, Green Mountain, NC passed away September 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a son of the late Maynard and Darlaski Peterson. He attended Pigeon Roost Church Of The Brethren. He was formerly employed with Clinchfield Railroad, then established and operated a grocery store on Pigeon Roost, and later worked in logging, timber and sawmilling. Ephlee enjoyed camping, traveling, and especially working and being in the mountains he loved.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 69 years, Adene Byrd Peterson, two sons; Garry Lee Peterson, (Elaine), and Stacy Chad Peterson, (Donna McCourry and son Connor), one sister; Wilma Taylor, (Tommy), one brother; Van Peterson, (Barbara), daughter in law; Becky Conley Peterson, grandchildren; Derrick Street, (Tracy), Shawn Peterson, (Kimberly), Beth Peterson, Blake Peterson, (Mallory), Dana Ward, (Vince), great grandchildren; Jadyn, Alexandria, Branson, Abbigayle, Lexi, Ezra, Leanne, Dalton, Journee, Jess, and Alli.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: one daughter, Patty Lynn Peterson Street, two sons; Kenny Brian Peterson, and Gerald Keith Peterson, one grandson; Brandon Peterson, one brother; Zelotes Peterson, and one sister; Elouise Renfro.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 7:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Reverend Marvin Miller and Reverend Jerry Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM prior to the service. Entombment will be Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11:00AM at Bear Wallow Cemetery.
