Emory V. Rathbone, age 84, of Asheville, NC went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2017. He was the son of the late George and  Bessie Mae Mckinney Rathbone. He was a member of Roan Mtn Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, David Charles Rathbone, of Asheville, NC, seven sisters: Trula Gardner of Bakersville, NC, June Frye (Phillip) of Spruce Pine, NC, Georgia Riddle (Bill) of Burnsville, NC, Rosa Lee Ledford of Fairview, NC, Brenda Freeman (Bo) of Marion, NC, Ann Ward (Sherrill) of Bakersville, NC, Angela Goldsmith of Asheville, NC, two brothers: Orlie Rathbone of Bakersville, NC, Wilkie Rathbone of Morganton, NC.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by his wife, Elizabeth Ruth Wyatt Rathbone and one sister Gladys Jones.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at Green Young Cemetery with Mark Mckinney officiating.
