Elmer Garland, age 70 of Bakersville , NC passed away January 26, 2016 . He was a son of the late Doss and Pearl Stevens Garland and a native of Mitchell County, NC. He was retired as a Millwright and was a member of Grace Baptist Church .

Survivors include; his son; Daniel Garland and wife Barbara, of Bakersville, NC, four sisters; Doris Phillips, of Bakersville, NC, Elvia Garland, of Hendersonville, NC, Helen Hawley, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Carolyn Galloway, of Brevard, NC, three brothers; Ray, Howard, and Lloyd Garland, all of Bakersville, NC, and a grandson; Hunter Garland.

He was preceded in death by; a son; Adam Garland, a brother; Jay Garland, and two sisters; Elaine and Wanda Sue Garland.

A family service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Ronnie Gouge officiating.  Interment will follow at Fork Mountain Cemetery .
