It is with profound sadness and much love that the family of Ellen Hollifield announce her peaceful passing on May 27, 2024 at age 88. She is now free of pain.

Ellen was the daughter of the late Homer Deaton and Ruby Pritchard.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Vickie (Charles) Boone of Spruce Pine, NC; grandchildren, Christy (Greg) Peterson of Winston Salem, NC, Cameron (Natasha) of Greeneville, Tenn, Tyler (Jody) Winston Salem, NC; great grandson Connor Peterson of Winston Salem, NC; sisters, Suzy McLean of Marion, NC and Jean (Lee) Davis of Lenoir, NC; sisters in law, Darlene Kerns and husband Bryce of Unicoi, TN, Mildred Hollifield of Tallahassee, Fla, and Betty Hollifield of Crawfordville, Fla, as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 yrs, Bill, son Randy, and brothers, Bruce and Frank Deaton.

As a homemaker she dedicated her life caring for her family and making sure everything was just so so. Her great pleasure was having you sit at her table, enjoy a cup of coffee, eat a grilled cheese or try her famous fried chicken.

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held on Monday, June 3rd, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Walnut Grove Church, 47 Bob Taylor Rd, Newland, NC with Rev. Bob Ivins and Rev. Kurt Bomar officiating. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Home Care of the Blue Ridge, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff on 100 Hall and Bethany Pressley, PA at The Greens for their wonderful care and love given to Ellen. We are forever indebted to Hospice and Home Care of the Blue Ridge for their compassion, love and thoughtfulness. They are angels sent from heaven.
