Elizabeth Letterman Carpenter, 93, of Bakersville , NC passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in the Mission Hospital System, Asheville , NC . She was the daughter of the late Robert and Anna Mae Letterman and the wife of the late James Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Grace Letterman; brothers, Robert and Clarence Letterman; daughter, Shelba Buchanan and sons: Jay, Larry and Jesse Carpenter; 2 great grandsons: Jacob and Josh Cox. She was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church .

Survivors include her daughters: Linda Harrell and Jenny Briggs both of Bakersville, Betty Land of Hudson and Crystal Rowe of Morganton; sons: Frank Carpenter and Richard Carpenter both of Marion; brother, J.C. Letterman of Marion; 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Chris Rathbone and Bruce Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7 pm prior to the service. Interment will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
