Edna Buchanan Rathburn, age 89, of Spruce Pine, NC passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital . She was the daughter of the late John and Frankie Mosley Briggs and she was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Georgia Yelton, Tempie Zeigler, Willie Yelton, Millie Briggs and Pansy Banks; grandsons: Kenny and Jimmy Yelton.

Survivors include her sons: Benny Briggs and wife Mary, and Roy Yelton and wife Rosella, all of Bakersville, Roger Yelton of Morganton, Ray Yelton and wife Wanda of Lenoir, and Lee Yelton of Drexel; daughters: Shelby Yelton, and Louise Yelton and husband Jim both of Morganton; sister, Dovie Whitson of Johnson City, TN; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, June 11, 2017 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. G.B. Garland officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery on Roy Greene Road , Bakersville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
