Earl (Junior) Forbes, 77, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC. He was the son of the late Earl and Etta Hoilman Forbes. Junior was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and a deacon of the former Rockdale Baptist Church . He was a volunteer smoke chaser for the North Carolina Forest Service and he loved woodworking. But most of all he loved his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Dowell.

Survivors include his wife, Ann McKinney Forbes of their home; sons: Darryl Forbes and David Forbes both of Bakersville; sisters, Mary Dellinger of Bakersville and Judy Honeycutt of Jonesboro , TN ; brothers: Carroll Forbes and wife Debbie and Ralph Forbes of Bakersville; grandchildren; Kyle, Ryan, Dylan and Zachary Forbes; 2 great grandchildren: Silas and Addison Forbes.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016 in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home with Kent Murphy and Chet Glenn officiating. The family will receive friends two hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Green Young Cemetery . Memorials may be made to the Forbes Family, 910 North 226 Hwy, Bakersville , NC 28705 .
