DATELINE; BAKERSVILLE, NC

Dorothy Stamey Buchanan, age 92, of Cane Creek Rd, Bakersville, NC passed away April 4, 2015 at her home. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and a daughter of the late Bascombe and Mattie Wilson Stamey. She was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church. She was retired from Hampshire Hosiery. She loved gardening, reading, making quilts, and cooking.

Survivors include; her daughter Mary Ellen Siska (Donald), of St. Clair, Michigan, a son Larry James Buchanan of Bakersville, NC, six grandchildren; Wendell Buchanan, Dylan Buchanan, Randall Staton, Damon Staton, Caroline Saffert, and Lauren Spencer, and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Buchanan, a sister Mary Will Buchanan, and a brother Bruce Stamey, one son Wilkie Buchanan, and one daughter Joanne Staton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 7:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Richard Jones and Mark McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11:00AM at Cane Creek Cemetery #1.
